Back in action

It’s been over two years since I’ve last posted but I want to start this blog up again, so here I am! It’s been an amazing year for movies and I can’t believe I missed on out talking about them on here.
Here’s to hoping I’ll be better this time around!

Guardians of the Galaxy

I was able to see Guardians of the Galaxy by Marvel Studios, and let me tell you, it was a blast. I had so much fun watching it. One thing I personally was happy with was that there wasn’t a lot of romance happening along with the action. It was subtle, and not forced or full throttle like a lot of action movies with a love interest. That, for me, made it more enjoyable.

I love it when the whole theater laughs together, and you defiantly get that with Guardians. A friend of mine, who hasn’t seen any of the other marvel films, said she really enjoyed the movie. So even if you aren’t a die hard comic book fan, it’s possible to still enjoy the film as a stand alone.

The characters were built up gradually and their individual stories were easy to follow and not overly focused on. You got to learn about each character in turn without taking time away from the movie. They told you what you needed to know and nothing more. It was great. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t wish I knew more.
Like Rocket Racoon! I want to know how he came to be where he is, and how he met Groot. I loved the relationship they had and I would love to see where it all started with them.

I could seriously go on all day about this movie, but I’m afraid I’d start completely rambling and repeating myself. So let me make this review short: if you haven’t seen it, I suggest you should. It was enjoyable, funny, and action filled. I didn’t know how they would end it and I was very happy with the way it did and I’m excited to see what they bring in the next one!

TFiOS

When I saw that the trailer was out my heart probably skipped a beat. I read the book first and I didn’t realize how much I liked it until I saw it was coming out as a movie. I’ll admit, I kind of hated the idea. What can I say, I’m a book lover and I know how movies can ruin even the best sellers when they hit the big screen.
After seeing the trailer, my view has completely changed. I’m in love with it all over again. I got the vibe from it I had gotten from the book and for me, that’s something that I look for when they turn a book into a movie: does it feel like the same story as I’ve read.
TFIOS feels like that for me. I want it to be like I’m re-reading the book with pictures, as word for word as possible. John Green is an amazing writer and I’d hate for his dialog to be lost in the scripts because for me, his words were quite magical.
I’m not familiar with the guy who play Augustus Waters (the leading male role) but the girl who plays Hazel Grace (the leading female role) I have seen before.

Of course I’m still nervous! I probably won’t shake it until I’ve seen the movie. TFiOS comes out June 6th and I’m already making plans with a fellow reader of this novel and friend, to see it as soon as we possibly can after it comes out. Fingers crossed for John Greens sick love story!

Rogue played by Anna Paquin in the X-men series

Rogue played by Anna Paquin in the X-men series

There is a huge debate on whether or not Rogue will be in the new X-Men, X-Men Days of Future Past, especially since her appearance in the advertising for the movie on the cover of Empire Magazine. They said that her role was more of a sideline, and she was only in a few brief scenes. When it came down to cutting the material for the movie they said that the
scene(s) she appeared in were not necessary to the film. The Director, Bryan Singer, has said that she may still appear in advertising for the movie even though she is no longer in it.
John Campea, of AMC Movie News, stated a point about this issue that I thought was very interesting:

“They probably did this photoshoot a long time ago…but the more I thought about it there has been a long time between Bryan Singer said she was cut and this (the Empire cover) … It would have been very easy to replace her from the cover another character with the amount of time that we are talking about.” — John Campea

I, personally, do not think that she will be in the movie. As much as I want to see one of my favorite characters from the previous movies, I would prefer they stick with their gut feelings and just give me the key points and characters that I need to see in the storyline. Although, I am seriously hoping I will see her again in a future X-Men movie no matter how brief, or at least on the DvD in the bonus features or extended version (if they do that).

{ You can hear John Campea and his team at AMC Movie Talk discuss this issue on their YouTube (AMC Theaters) just look them up and check it out }

What’s your opinion? Do you think Rogue will be in it? Yes or No?

My new blog

This blog will be about movies, tv shows, sometimes music, books, and star news. I am a huge fanatic when it comes to certain things (mentioned above) and I tire my family with all of my Q&A about their opinions on things. “So why not start a blog” I thought. I’m excited for it and I hope my knowledge of “useless” things will come to use to someone. (:
